Grade 10 ELA MCAS Begins Tomorrow
Tuesday and Wednesday this Week - ELA MCAS
We wanted to remind parents and guardians along with Grade 10 students that tomorrow and Wednesday this week is the English Language Arts MCAS testing. Students must earn a passing score on all MCAS tests to earn a high school diploma in Massachusetts. Students should do their best to be at school on the days of testing. Testing begins each day at 7:40am after a brief break in the cafeteria for breakfast. Room assignments were posted today in the cafeteria, outside the media center and near the main office for students to know where they will report after meeting in the cafeteria at 7:30am.
A few important reminders for students:
Please make sure your iPad is fully charged for MCAS testing and is up-to-date with the current version of software. You will need your iPad for testing as they are computer-based.
If you are absent on a day of testing, you will be scheduled for a makeup test session upon your return.
If you have any questions related to MCAS testing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mr. Clements, Mrs. Moran, or your school counselor.
National Honor Society Induction This Week
Congratulations NHS Inductees
This Wednesday, March 27, Nipmuc Regional High School will host the 64th annual induction ceremony of the Nipmuc chapter of the National Honor Society. This event, which begins at 6pm, is open to students, their families, and to members of our MURSD faculty and staff. Please join us in celebrating our newest members!
Congratulations to the Model UN Club
Model UN this Past Weekend
This past Saturday, the Model UN Club participated in a program called Academic World Quest at Emmanuel College. Academic WorldQuest, the World Affairs Councils of America’s flagship youth education program, is a team-oriented global knowledge competition for high school students.
Nipmuc had three teams participate in the event competing against the likes of Boston Latin and Lexington High School. This was a great experience for our students learning about Emmanuel College and the College of the Fenways program. We hope to return with our continued strong showing next year.

Save the Date
ELA Night
Nipmuc Regional High School is hosting our third annual English Language Arts Night on April 4th from 6-8 PM. This year, we have over 40 events taking place, including student presentations, dramatic readings, live podcast productions, Socratic discussions, interactive panel talks, conversations about literature, spoken word poetry, and more.
This event serves a threefold purpose: to serve as an induction ceremony for our school’s National English Honor Society chapter, to showcase the products of our students’ ongoing efforts in the study of English language arts, and to empower our students by providing for them a platform to share their insights, perspectives, and voices.
English Language Arts Night is open to our students, their families, and MURSD faculty and staff.
Spring Wellness Week
April 8 - 12
Nipmuc Regional High School’s School Counseling Department will hold our annual Spring Wellness Week from April 8-12th, 2024. We are looking forward to a variety of fun activities and programs focused on mental health and wellness.
On Monday, April 8th, thanks to funding from Nipmuc’s Active Minds chapter, we will be hosting a speaker from Minding Your Mind, a nonprofit mental health education foundation whose primary objective is to provide mental health education to adolescents. Through this program, Changing Minds: Stories Over Stigma, students will hear from Wes, a dynamic young adult speaker with lived experience who will share an inspiring personal story about struggle, resilience, and hope. This evidence-based program is aimed at ending the stigma around mental health challenges while encouraging students to seek help for themselves or a friend as early as possible.
Nipmuc's school counselors will continue to be available to any student seeking support before, during, and after this presentation. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your student’s school counselor with any questions or concerns.

Parking Reminders
Spring has sprung! Students may now park in the perimeter parking spaces (or in the main lot). Students are not allowed to park in visitor spaces. As a reminder, any student parking at school must register their vehicle and have their parking sticker adhered to the inside of the front windshield (driver's side). Any student not in compliance with these rules may receive parking violation fines. Thank you for your cooperation. Any questions about purchasing a parking permit, please reach out to the main office at nipmucmainoffice@mursd.org.
