Grade 10 ELA MCAS Next Week
We wanted to remind parents and guardians along with Grade 10 students that next week is the English Language Arts MCAS testing. The test dates are Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, March 27. Students must earn a passing score on all MCAS tests to earn a high school diploma in Massachusetts. Students should do their best to be at school on the days of testing. Testing begins each day at 7:40am after a brief break in the cafeteria for breakfast.
A few important reminders for students:
Please make sure your iPad is fully charged for MCAS testing and is up-to-date with the current version of software. You will need your iPad for testing as they are computer-based.
Testing groups will be posted in the cafeteria on the day before MCAS testing
If you are absent on a day of testing, you will be scheduled for a makeup test session upon your return.
If you have any questions related to MCAS testing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mr. Clements, Mrs. Moran, or your school counselor.

Students from Japan Visit Nipmuc
Thank You to Our Student Amabassadors
This past Friday Nipmuc hosted 30 students from Miyagi Prefecture Sendai Daini (3rd) High School in Japan. These students were in Boston as part of a cultural exchange program.
Thank you to Mr. Moloney for organizing this wonderful experience for our student ambassadors and for our the student volunteers who were able to learn from our guests and teach them about what a day looks like in high school in the United States. Both schools had a moment to exchange their cultural story and learn about the differences and similarities of high school life between the United States and Japan. At the end of the day, friends were made and candy was exchanged but the heart of it was the building of an international connection.

One8 Foundation Recognizes Two Nipmuc Students
Computer Science Project Award Winners
Congratulations to Ashleigh Lupien and Hannah Cotton as High School Computer Science Award winners for the exceptional project they submitted to the One8 Applied Learning Hub’s Student Industry Connect program. Ashleigh and Hannah’s Python programming game, Ball Toss, was selected as one of two overall computer science award winners. In total, there were 14 winning projects from all categories including Biomedical Science and Engineering, out of over 750 submissions. One industry professional volunteer stated “I really like the game’s look and feel. It made me feel like your team put a lot of thought behind the game. The code is also clean and easy to follow. I also liked how you explained the data of the strings/list and how you manipulated the data for the game.”
In recognition of this achievement, Ashleigh and Hannah have the opportunity to participate in an industry virtual internship with the Work-Based Learning Alliance (WBLA) this summer and will receive a printed certificate and banner. Ashleigh and Hannah, we are so proud of the amazing project you submitted, as well as the hard work, collaboration, and perseverance you demonstrated throughout the design process. Well done!!

Opportunity for the Class of 2025
Mastery Transcript Consortium
On Wednesday this week there will be a presentation by Mr. Clements and Mrs. Moran on Wednesday, March 20 during both breaks in the Gathering Room. This is for the opportunity of the Mastery Learning Record (MLR) with all members of the Class of 2025. Nipmuc is one of about 400 schools across the globe that provide students with the opportunity to use this innovative school record as a way to tell their full story to colleges, universities, and employers. This may provide support as you consider your post-high school options.
There's no commitment to build a Mastery Learning Record if you attend. Sign up here to join this session. (Please note that students must be logged into your Google account to respond.)
Save the Date: For those students interested in creating an MLR, we plan to kick-off our work together on the Mastery Learning Record on Wednesday, March 27 from 2:10-3:15pm. If you are not able to attend this session, you can still participate in the program.
