Thank you to the Upton Cultural Council
We received a generous grant from the Upton Cultural Council to pay for our in-house dramatic presentation on April 12 entitled, “Chariot of the Sun”. The actor, Jeff Benoit, used a combination of hand-made masks, mime, poetry, and student participation to bring 3 classic Greek myths to life. The stories included Phaethon, Pandora, and Odysseus/Cyclops. The sixth grade students were engaged and during the question and answer session quickly asked Mr. Benoit if he could come again! The presentation was an excellent precursor to our annual Greek Day program. We are very appreciative of the Upton Cultural Council’s consideration and generosity.
Lost and Found
Please encourage your student to check out our Lost & Found if they misplaced an item here at school. We have coats, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, scarfs, water bottles, Tupperware, headphones, lunch boxes, notebooks and folders. Please encourage them to stop by the main office if they are looking for eye glasses, Air Pods, phones or other valuables.
Please note all items remaining will be donated after the school day has completed on Friday, May 3rd.
Semi Formal Donations
Dear Eighth Grade Parents/ Caregivers,
We hope this message finds you well. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support and participation in our upcoming event. Your involvement means the world to us, and we are truly grateful for your commitment to making this event a success.
We wanted to take a moment to remind you that our event is fully funded by donations. Your generous contributions play a crucial role in ensuring that we can provide the best experience possible for everyone involved.
We understand that many of you have already completed permission forms indicating your intention to donate. However, we have noticed that some donations have not yet been received. In order to plan appropriately and ensure that we have sufficient funds to cover all expenses, it is essential for us to have an accurate understanding of the funds available.
Currently, there is a discrepancy of over $1,000, and this makes it challenging for us to proceed with confidence in our planning efforts. Therefore, we kindly ask that if you have not yet made your donation, please consider doing so as soon as possible.
Donations of any size can be made either by check, cash or credit card.
Donations by cash or check can be dropped off at Miscoe Main Office; please note on the envelope / check that this donation is for the 8th grade semi-formal.
Donations can be made by credit card here (Please make sure you select Miscoe Hill 8th Grade Events under Select Payment Type)
To accommodate any outstanding donations, we have extended the deadline to donate until May 3rd. This extra time will allow us to reconcile our records and ensure that we can provide the best possible experience for all participants.
Once again, we want to express our sincerest appreciation for your support and understanding. Your generosity makes a significant difference, and we are incredibly grateful for your contributions to our event.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding donations or the event itself, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at [email here]. Thank you for being part of our community and for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Semi Planning Committee

Attendance Letters
Once a student accumulates 5 unexcused absences a letter is sent to the student’s parents/guardians. The intention of this letter is to notify the family of the absences, review the attendance policy, and advise the family that the student is at risk for requiring an intervention that would necessitate a school meeting. We recognize that there can be various reasons for a student's absence, and this letter serves to inform you of the number of days your child has missed.
Additionally, it's essential to remember that according to Massachusetts General Law (MGL) and our handbook, students are permitted up to 7 excused absences within any 6 month period. It's crucial to emphasize that even if there's existing open communication between the parent and the main office, and doctor's notes have been documented in PowerSchool, we still have an obligation to send the letter and notify the parent/guardian.
