2024-2025 Kindergarten Survey

To ensure that you receive the necessary information in reference to kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school session, please complete the survey information below.  You will be required to bring in your student's original birth certificate, updated physical and proof of residency at a later time.  You will receive additional information regarding student screening dates and PowerSchool Online Enrollment at the email you provide.

Virginia Law(22.1-1) requires every parent, guardian, or other person in the Commonwealth having control or charge of any child who will have reached his/her fifth (5th) birthday on or before September 30, 2024, to enroll the child in kindergarten in a public school or other approved educational program.

PRESCHOOL PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS  

Virginia School Law (22.1-270) states that no pupil shall be admitted for the first time to any public kindergarten or elementary school in a school division unless such pupil shall furnish, prior to admission, a report from a qualified licensed physician of a comprehensive physical examination of a scope prescribed by the State Health Commissioner performed no earlier than twelve months prior to the date such pupil first enters such kindergarten or elementary school. No physical will be accepted before 8/7/2023. Only physicals from 8/7/2023 till the start of the 2024-2025 school session will be accepted. Please make sure the immunization section is completed and signed by the physician.  A form is enclosed for your child’s physician or health department to complete. We cannot accept it unless it is signed.  


IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS


As required by Virginia School Law (22.1-271.2), no student shall be admitted by a school unless at the time of admission the student or his parent or guardian submits documentary proof of immunization to the admitting official of the school or unless the parent or guardian submits an affidavit stating 1) that the administration of immunizing agents conflict with the student’s religious tenets or practices; or 2) that the school has written certification from a licensed physician or a local health department that one or more of the required immunizations may be detrimental to the student’s health.

BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Virginia School Law (22.1-3.1) requires that each student shall furnish a certified birth certificate to the school.  A HOSPITAL CERTIFICATE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
