Rockin' for a Reason was a Huge Success for a Great Cause!
Congratulations to Ms. Simmonds and all of the students that participated in the Rockin' for a Reason concert this past Friday evening. In total, the students raised just over $8,000 for the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation. Most of the money raised will go to fund research for safer pediatric cancer treatments, and some will go to their Family Grant program, which directly benefits families with children undergoing treatment. The students did a great job and we wanted to congratulate all those students that participated listed below:

Marine Science Students Dive into Local Conservation
Every year Marine Science students participate in a local conservation program with Grassroots Wildlife Conservation at Zoo New England. This program seeks to pair willing Massachusetts classrooms with two endangered hatchling turtles in need of head starting. Young turtles face many dangers when first hatched due to their incredibly small size (about the size of a quarter) and their soft shells.
Students will be providing shelter and feeding these turtles so that they grow larger than they normally would in the wild during their first year. This reduces predation and gives the hatchlings a “head start” on survival. This past Wednesday, 38 Nipmuc students were introduced to the program, the care that they will provide, and, most importantly the hatchlings themselves! Students were excited and ready to go.
First up, what will the students decide to name them?
College Financial Aid Information Night
You are invited to join Beth Feinberg Keenan, MEFA ambassador and former Senior Financial Aid Officer at Northeastern University, for an informative presentation on all things financial aid. The presentation will take place this Tuesday, October 10 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm in the Nipmuc auditorium.
The presentation will provide information and clarity on the college financial aid application process. Caregivers will learn about financial aid applications and types of financial aid, the factors that determine your aid eligibility, how colleges determine the amount of aid to offer, and the details of financial aid offers.

School Advisory Council
We are looking for several parents/caregivers and community members to join our School Advisory Council (SAC). As shared by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents/caregivers, teachers, community members, and, at the secondary level, students. The SAC assists the principals in reflecting on programming, shaping school goals, and guiding teaching and learning. Feel free to reach out to nipmucprincipals@mursd.org if you are interested in joining this team.
