@NipmucRegional
Keeping you informed on important dates and information.
As we get ready to welcome the start of a new year, we wanted to take a moment to offer our gratitude to the Nipmuc community for all of the ongoing support you have provided during this year of unprecedented challenges. In this year of unanticipated and world-changing challenges, we have found an even deeper appreciation for the chance to be part of our supportive, collaborative, resilient, and dedicated community of learners. We look forward to 2021 with hope for renewed health and a sense of optimism for the future of learning at our school.
This Week's Schedule
We’ll be running a modified schedule this week (see below) with cohort 1 in-person today, cohort 2 in-person tomorrow, and an early release day (remote-synchronous) schedule on Wednesday.

Planning for Semester 2
AP "Summer" Work (Semester 2)
What has been traditionally termed as AP "summer" work is now available to students for their semester 2 courses. You can find the link here.
This work can be completed at any time prior to the start of semester 2 on February 1, 2021. Students are not expected to complete this work over the holiday break but can get a head start on this work if they would like. Additionally, AP teachers may assign optional work/practice for their current students over break. Again, this work is not mandatory but an option for students looking to continue to expand their skills.
Congratulations, Mr. King!
The Nipmuc Regional community would like to offer our congratulations to Mr. Andrew King who will begin his retirement on January 1. Mr. King has been a part of the Nipmuc family since 1987. In his role as a student support services teacher, history teacher, and history department chair, Mr. King has been an integral part of our school community. His students have always appreciated the personalized support he provides, the relationships he builds with them, the safe and supportive classroom environment he has created, and the way he makes learning fun. Mr. King’s colleagues are grateful for his humor, leadership, and personable nature that have made him such a pleasure to work with through the years.
We are grateful for all of his years of dedication and hard work, and we wish him the best for a wonderful retirement! Congratulations, Mr. King.
Winter Concert
Congratulations to Mr. Harding, his student teacher Ms. Cadorette, and our instrumental students for putting on such an amazing show on Wednesday night! It was amazing to see the way they adapted to the physical distancing guidelines and put on an impressive and memorable performance. If you missed the performance you can watch these talented musicians in the video above (or at this link).
Why Music? Featuring the Vocalists of Nipmuc Music!
Throughout the fall our talented vocalists have worked resourcefully to find a way to continue pursuing their passion for music. While they may not have been able to participate in the annual winter concert, they have continued to study music and reflect on the impact it makes on their lives. Through the leadership of Ms. Simmonds, students explored the "Why Music?" project, considering what makes music important to them. We invite you to check out their videos and see what these amazing voices had to say!
Dress Warm
As a reminder, students should dress in warm layers for school. Even with the temperature dropping outside, our students will still be taking mask breaks outside and have the windows in their classrooms slightly open for ventilation.
A Message from the Nipmuc School Nurse
Per the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, influenza immunization will be required for all children 6 months of age or older who are attending Massachusetts child care, pre-school, kindergarten, K-12, and colleges and universities. The new vaccine requirement is an important step to reduce flu-related illness and the overall impact of respiratory illness during the COVID-19 pandemic.
All MURSD students will be expected to have received a flu vaccine by December 31, 2020 for the 2020-2021 influenza season, unless either a medical or religious exemption is provided. Also exempted are K-12 students who are homeschooled and higher education students who are completely off-campus and engaged in remote learning only. This new flu immunization requirement to enter school in January is in addition to existing vaccine requirements for all those attending child care, preschool, K-12, and colleges and universities in Massachusetts. Elementary and secondary students in districts and schools that are using a remote education model are not exempt.
Please forward documentation of your child’s flu vaccine to the school nurse prior to December 31, 2020.
