The MHS Community Update
September 12, 2020
Middletown is an educational community committed to providing academic, civic, and social tools essential for the future success of our students.
Principal's Report
I hope that you're having a great weekend as we all prepare for perhaps the most widely anticipated returns to school that I have ever seen, I'd like to begin by saying thank you to everyone for your support, understanding, and patience over the course of the past summer as Middletown Public Schools have worked to re-imagine and educational program that is both safe and challenging. As I have said several times before, there is no doubt that given the vast array of state guidelines, uncertainties about the virus itself, and consistent change, there will undoubtedly be hurdles that we will need to overcome as we enter into the 2020-2021 school year. While some of these hurdles will be more difficult to clear than others, I am confident that together, we will be able to solve any unforeseen issues that are thrown our way!
Below I've provided a list of links that will help to provide you with the most up to date information that we have regarding MHS operations. All grades have been represented in the links and related information below. As usual, Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or comments!
Have a wonderful weekend!

What about NACTC?
- Attend Rogers High School & NACTC full time for the duration of SY 2020-2021
- Table your NACTC coursework and attend MHS full time for the duration of SY 2020-2021
- Attend NACTC part time (several days a week) and remaining at MHS part time (several days a week)
After continued conversations here is where things currently stand with NACTC programming.
- Students who are attending Rogers & NACTC full time should have already received their schedules from Rogers as well as their NACTC schedules.
- Students who have elected to table their NACTC experience and attend MHS full time should, at this point, also have a full schedule and be all set to attend school.
- Conversations around students who have elected the part-time NACTC and MHS option are ongoing. The issue here is aligning the schedules of NACTC with all participating, surrounding communities (Middletown, Tiverton, Portsmouth). While we share schedule similarities all 4 districts have distinct differences that has made this a difficult puzzle to solve. Our guidance department and administrative team are in communication with the 3 other districts as well as NACTC attempting to work out a viable solution for Tuesday of this upcoming week. More information will be shared on Monday, 9/15 to help provide more clarity on NACTC/MHS part-time programming.

Dr. Heath's Video of the Month
As my introduction to the MHS family I really wanted to share a video that resonates with me both personally and professionally... without a doubt, this TED talk delivered by the late Sir Ken Robinson in 2006 is the one. Enjoy!
