Thanksgiving Spirit Week and FAST
Student Council is excited to share the details about the spirit week next week, Turkey a Teacher fundraiser, and Faculty and Students Together (FAST) event.
Turkey a Teacher: 11/13 - 11/17
Nipmuc Student Council is bringing back Turkey-a-Teacher for FAST 2023. Participating staff will have a turkey put on their door on Monday, November 13th. From then until the 17th, anyone can pay $0.50 to buy a feather to put on a teacher’s door. Teachers can pay $1.00 to remove a feather from their turkey (Student Council members will be available to remove feathers at lunches and breaks). The teacher with the most feathers will have the honor of wearing the Nipmuc turkey costume to the pep rally!
Faculty and Students Together (FAST) 11/22
On Wednesday, November 22, the Nipmuc Student Council will host our annual FAST event. The students and staff will participate in a full-day event with a motivational speaker, class competitions, and a pep rally.
FAST Points System
This year the student council is looking for more student engagement for our spirit week and our Turkey-a-Teacher fundraiser. We will be using FAST points to incentivize participation in these events. For each of the three spirit days, first-block teachers will record the number of students participating in each spirit day.
Spirit Week (11/20 - 11/22)
We'll host a spirit week on November 20 - 22. Find the details for the week in the image below.
Nipmuc Athletics - Winter Sports Informational Night - November 15 @ 6:30pm
The Winter Sports Informational night will be held Wednesday November 15 at 6:30pm in the Nipmuc auditorium.
The meeting will include a guest speaker from Positive Coaches Alliance, a non-profit organization who works to grow the capacities of coaches, parents, and athletes. This is the first of three speaker series, including sessions for athletes and coaches. We are asking that all winter athletes bring at least one parent/caregiver to the event.
Our speaker for Wednesday night will be Brian Swan. Coach Swan has experience coaching football, basketball, and baseball at the high school level. He is a former lead instructor for Doyle Baseball/Softball Academy, which started in Winter Haven, Florida and is currently in Acworth, Georgia. With Doyle, Coach Swan traveled the country teaching baseball/softball to players ages 5 to 18, as well as certifying coaches on teaching the fundamental skills of the games. Coach Swan currently trains coaches for local youth baseball organizations in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and is a youth field instructor for the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, leading baseball/softball clinics in the five-state area of Twins Territory. Coach Swan has 25 years of experience in Talent Management and Leadership Development, most recently with Life Time. He has been a workshop facilitator with PCA for the last 10 years, delivering workshops for coaches, families, and players.

Students Focus on Helping a Great Cause
Many people around the world and in our community have been impacted by cancer in different ways. Early cancer detection is very important in the fight against cancer because most cancers are treatable if caught in early stages. They are raising money for DetecTogether, a nonprofit located in Westboro.
The minimum donation fee will be set at $5. A representative from DetecTogether will be at the start of the walk to provide education and answer any questions you may have about early cancer detection. Before the walk they will also be selling snacks and drinks at our check-in table. The walk is at your own pace, and there is no specific end time! Please sign up ahead of time using the QR code on the flier or at the link button below. We hope to see you there!
