Wingate Elementary
Family Newsletter November 2023
Wingate Families-
It was great seeing so many parents at conferences last week! If you missed your conference with your child's teacher, please email or call them to reschedule. Our goal is to meet with 100% of parents.
Thanks for everyone's cooperation in returning our Impact Aid forms at Wingate. We have two left to collect to reach 100%.
Please reach out to our office if you have any questions or if we can do anything for you. Thanks for your continued support.

Lexia at Home-
Lexia is a program that we pay for in the Mascoutah School District. It boost learning for all students, but especially for those behind their grade level peers. Lexia is not taken for a grade.
We will be sending home a QR code later this week with your child in grades K-2. You can use this QR code on a device at home to access Lexia for your child. Students in grades 3-5 know how to independently log in to Lexia.
This is an independent program that students use at school and hopefully soon, at home. Please do not do the work for your child. It is at their individual level and they will benefit from the "productive struggle" that it provides. Here is some more information on Lexia.
Fun Run at Wingate-
Thanks to all families that supported and donated to the Fun Run! Wingate raised over $19,000 during this fundraiser. We used some of this money to purchase pumpkins for each student at Fall Festival this week. As the celebration at the end of the fundraiser, students got to turn Mr. Reed and I into Human Sundaes. Students loved seeing us made into Human Sundaes!
Thank you for working with us. We are grateful for your support!
Kruta Bakery Pie Fundraiser by PTO-
PTO has organized a pie sale for Thanksgiving. Kruta Bakery in Collinsville is an amazing bakery. See the details below to order a pie or two. Here is the link to our school store to place an order-https://wingateelementary.futurefund.com/store
Parent Permission for Google-
Recently parents were given a permission slip to sign to enable Google Permissions. We noticed today that students who did not get permission were locked out of many programs that we use regularly at school. I wanted to clarify for you in case you have more questions on this topic. We are asking for parent permission because Google will no longer support the permissions for all of the third-party apps/programs that we use in our district. Therefore, we have to ask for parent permission as Google no longer covers this portion for apps they do not manage but are connected to its services. This is in regards to privacy laws; the 18-or-older permission is not for content. For instance an app designed for kindergarten students that supports number and letter recognition may require the user to be 18 or older without parent permission if it keeps a running score of your child's progress. If you have questions about this, please email Brandon Goode at the Mascoutah District Office-goodeb@msd19.org
Veterans Invitiation-
We will have a school wide assembly on Thursday, November 9th at 2:45-3:15 PM in our multi-purpose room in honor of Veterans Day. If you are a Veteran or if there is a Veteran in your family, please let them know about our assembly. Seating will be limited because we will include all 500 students in our assembly. Veterans can check into our office starting at 2:30 PM on November 9th. They will need to have their driver's license with them.
Playground Usage at Night and on the Weekend-
Our playground is open in the evening and weekends during daylight hours. Unfortunately we are finding a large amount of trash left behind from those using the playground. Please remind your family (teenagers especially) to throw their trash in trash cans located throughout our grounds. Thanks!
PreK Screening-
We have several openings available for our next PreK Screening on November 3rd. See the details below.
Order a Yearbook-
To order a yearbook visit-
Also please make sure when logging into Jostens to order pictures or a yearbook to use the same email address you have listed in Skyward. If you are getting locked out of the Jostens website, it is because you are using a different email address then what you have on file in Skyward. Thanks!
