The Inspired Learning Planning Team is excited to announce the MURSD Inspired Learning Design Challenge on Thursday, February 9. Students from across the district will have the opportunity to take on the Zip Line Challenge, which will allow them to explore, apply, and reflect on their personal connection to the MURSD Portrait of a Learner through a hands-on, collaborative STEM challenge.
At Nipmuc, the challenge will take place from 9-11am which will allow students to connect with the Portrait of a Learner, engage in a design challenge, and reflect on their learning. In the afternoon, some students will have the opportunity to visit other schools in the district to support the learning of the younger students.

Signs of Suicide Programming - January 30, 2023
Our goals in participating in this program include teaching students:
- that depression is treatable so they are encouraged to seek help
- how to identify serious depression and potential suicide risk in themselves or a friend
- to ACT (Acknowledge, Care and Tell a trusted adult) if concerned about themselves or a friend
- who they can turn to at school for help, if they need it Students will watch an age-appropriate video and participate in a guided discussion about depression, suicide, and what to do if they are concerned about a friend.
Following the video, students will complete a short screening for depression and a response slip indicating whether they would like to talk to an adult about any concerns. We encourage you to visit www.sossignsofsuicide.org/parent for information on warning signs for youth suicide, to access useful resources, and to learn more about the key message all students will learn in class. If you have questions please reach out to your student's school counselor.

Spring Musical - Beauty and the Beast
The Drama Guild is thrilled to be working with the Hopkinton Art Center who have graciously loaned the drama students the costumes for their upcoming production of Beauty and the Beast. Hopkinton Art Center received the costumes from a theater that went out of business on the stipulation that they lend them out to schools and community groups around our area. The Nipmuc drama students are the happy recipients of this generous donation.
Tickets to “Beauty and the Beast" will be on sale online beginning on February 1. The show dates are as follows:
Opening Night: Friday, March 24 at 7pm
Saturday, March 25 Shows at 2pm and 7pm
Sunday, March 26 the last show is at 2pm
There will be a “meet the characters “ event on Sunday before the show from 12:30pm-1:30pm. This is an opportunity for children to have their picture taken with their favorite character To make this large spring musical possible the drama guild ran a fundraiser selling magnets and also are taking any donations
Backstage Help Needed
Would you like to help paint the set? We are looking for interested students and parents to help paint the beautiful backdrops. If you would like to be backstage during the show, there are quick changes into the costumes for several of the singing numbers and we will need backstage help for cast members to buckle on their “forks” or “plates” for “Be our Guest” for instance. It will be a wonderful performance and alot of fun backstage with all the excitement of the theatrical experience! If you are interested please email Ms. Johnson at tjohnson@mursd.org.
