Dear Mendon-Upton Families,
We hope everyone is doing well as we make our way through May and beautiful spring weather. In the coming weeks, we are preparing to celebrate many exciting activities across the district from field days to concerts to graduation and more. Although we are looking forward to these activities, we are remaining vigilant about the current health crisis in order to have a strong end to our school year.
With that in mind, we wanted to make you aware that over the course of the last week, we have seen an uptick in COVID-19 cases, flu cases, and general illness across the district. We want to share this information with you so that you can make decisions within your family that make sense for you. You can access the most recent COVID-19 district data here.
In addition to the ongoing health and safety precautions in our schools, we wanted to offer a reminder of steps students and families can take to stay safe and healthy.
If students are not feeling well, please keep them home from school and reach out to the school nurse. You may also reference the COVID-19 symptoms list.
MURSD is a mask-flexible district. Students and staff have the option to wear a mask while at school.
Mask-wearing and vaccinations remain the best way to stay safe and to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. Masks are available each day for students at all of our schools. Feel free to contact school nurses should you have questions about how to access a vaccination for your child.
Follow DESE/DPH recommendations for isolation and quarantine, including getting tested if you are exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms of COVID-19
If you are a part of the voluntary at-home testing program, continue to test students on Thursday each week. If you would like to join this program, please reach out to the nurse at your student’s school.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s school nurse.
Our students, staff, and families have done a fantastic job throughout the past two years working together as a community to stay safe and healthy despite challenging times. We appreciate everyone’s ongoing assistance as we work together to provide a safe, healthy, and exciting end to the school year.
Take care,
Maureen Cohen
