Welcome Back
We hope everyone enjoyed the February break and that you were able to find some time to relax and recharge. We can't believe that we are in the last week of February looking ahead already to March. Full Release Day - March 5
No School for Students
If you are looking ahead and planning we wanted to remind you that students don't have school on Tuesday, March 5 as this is a full release day and a teacher professional development day.
Exciting Field Trips Before Break
DECA Visits the State House
On Monday, February 12, Nipmuc DECA EBoard students attended Massachusetts DECA's annual DECA Day on the Hill at the Massachusetts State House. While there, Nipmuc's DECA chapter was presented with a certificate in recognition of "The commitment and success of the students and advisors of the Nipmuc Regional High School DECA program in preparing emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management." The certificate was awarded by Speaker of the House Ronald Mariano and presented by Representative Brian Murray of the 10th Worcester District. Students were then able to participate in a tour of the State House by Representative Murray.
Girls Who Code Visits Meditech!
On Monday, February 12th, Nipmuc Girls Who Code took a field trip to Meditech in Foxborough! They received a presentation from a panel of women in STEM as well as a tour of the building. Grade 10 MCAS Testing
Save the Date: ELA and Math MCAS
Each spring, students in grade 10 take their English Language Arts and Mathematics MCAS. Students must earn a passing score on these MCAS tests (as well as their science MCAS) to earn a high school diploma in Massachusetts. Students should do their best to be at school on the days of testing. Testing begins each day at 7:40am after a brief break in the cafeteria for breakfast. The testing dates are listed below:
ELA MCAS - March 26 & 27
Mathematics MCAS - May 21 & 22
A few important reminders for students:
Please make sure your iPad is fully charged for MCAS testing and is up-to-date with the current version of software. You will need your iPad for testing as they are computer-based.
You may bring a calculator for session 2 of the Math MCAS (May 22)
Testing groups will be posted in the cafeteria on the day before MCAS testing
If you are absent on a day of testing, you will be scheduled for a makeup test session upon your return
Note for students in biology (grade 9): The Science, Technology, and Engineering (STE) MCAS in Biology will take place on June 4 -5. More information to follow.
If you have any questions related to MCAS testing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mr. Clements, Mrs. Moran, or your school counselor.
