Dear Maynard School Community,

We will keep you updated as we progress with the Green Meadow Elementary School Building Project. We held our first community presentation on April 27th to share the MSBA process, where we are in that process and 7 possible GMES options from updated, new and renovated, or a totally new building. The link to the presentation is here - 04 27 2022 Green Meadow Elementary School Building Project

Other exciting happenings at MPS include topics from last night’s school committee meeting. At Maynard High School, with the leadership and support of Ms. Adams, we are piloting a Global Scholars Pathway beginning in 2022 - 2023. At both Green Meadow Elementary School and the Fowler School, we have added a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for students this year, which has a very positive impact on both students and staff. We plan to continue this model of support for the 2022 - 2023 school year using our ESSER funds. Finally, we are still exploring the possibility of a solar project on the school campus. There was a presentation from Beth Greenblatt of Beacon Integrated Solutions and Sarah Hill from Solect Energy. We are excited to be exploring this option as we look to be more environmentally friendly in the future.

Unfortunately, as we see across the country, COVID numbers appear to be increasing. Our current COVID cases between April 22 April 28 are as follows:

Maynard High School: 7 students, 2 staff members

Fowler School: 8 students, 1 staff members

Green Meadow Elementary School: 3 students, 2 staff members

This is a definite increase, but we hear, anecdotally, that the symptoms appear to be more similar to a head cold. Please be vigilant and stay home if you are sick. We are wishing those who need it a quick recovery.

Maynard High School music students will be performing on the following dates:

5/4        MHS Solo and Ensemble Night (Jazz & Wind) (7 PM)

5/7         MHS Spring Art Walk (5-7 PM)

5/11         MHS Spring Choral Concert (7:30 PM)

5/20         MHS/Fowler Great East Festival

5/24         MHS Spring Band Concert (7 PM)

5/30         MHS Memorial Day parade or ceremony (TBD)

In addition, we are hoping to present a surprise pre-show short presentation, which demonstrates that while “art often imitates life,” on very few special occasions, life can imitate art.
