WORK ETHIC seal program

Marion County Public Schools is driven to prepare students for the transition from school to life beyond the classroom. A strong work ethic is essential to our students if they are to secure and maintain successful, meaningful employment.

The MCPS Community Education Program has diligently worked with local businesses to develop this program, which has specific criteria to identify students whose hard work, attendance and extracurricular activities distinguish them.

Students receiving this recognition have an advantage when seeking employment as it easily identifies potential employees with a demonstrated work ethic. Listed on college applications and resumes, it shows that the student has learned the value of active participation in school and identifies the student as one who will regularly attend class and work hard at their education -- qualities that make the student more attractive to jobs and colleges and/or universities.

Students earning the recognition will have the Work Ethic Seal permanently affixed to their transcript, receive a turquoise cord to wear at graduation, and be eligible to receive a scholarship.

The Work Ethic Seal program is open to 9th-12th graders.
